A clarion call has gone to young Muslimah to always see poverty as a test, not an excuse to engage in sinful acts as well as choose their friends among those who will always remind them of Ibadah and excellence in all their endeavours.

This appeal was made at the annual Sisters Seminar of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, Lagos State Area Unit, at the Agege Branch yesterday 23rd DhulQodah1447AH.

Hajia Ruqayyah Shittu, who represented the MSSN LSAU Amirah, Hajia Rofiah Tijani, delivered her address to the audience.

Also speaking on the theme; “To The One I Belong – Series 2”, the guest lecturer, Hajia Fawziyyah Omotesho urged young Muslimah to always remember Allah’s favours on them and be determined to obey Allah at all times. Hajia Tijani stated that the theme is not just a slogan, it is a question every Muslimah must answer: Who do you belong to when no one is watching? In a world pulling us toward fame, trends and false validation, we return to the only belonging that gives peace — belonging to Allah (SWT).Allah says: “And We have certainly honored the children of Adam…”.

Your self-worth is not fromfilters, followers, or relationships. It is stamped by your Creator. “When a sister forgets this, she begins toseek belonging in the wrong places — in toxic friendships, in haram relationships, in compromising her values just to “feel seen.” But the one who knows her worth before Allah will never auction her dignity for acceptance. This is because she belongs to Ar-Rahman, and that is enough.

“”Poverty is a test, not an excuse tobelong to those who disobey Allah. The Prophet (SAW) was the most beloved to Allah, yet he tied stones to his stomach from hunger. The way out is in threefold: taqwa, sabr, and skill. Allah says:*“And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect.”.

Rasulullah (SAW) said: “Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His…a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah…”. Sisters, this is you. Your teenage years, your campus years, are not a rehearsal. They are the main stage. The decision you make at 10, 12, 14, 15, or 19 can be the reason you stand under Allah’s Throne at 90,000 years.

“”When You Find Yourself Amidst Corrupt Students Who Sell Their Bodies for Money, What Is the Next Line of Action? This is the reality for many of our sisters in hostels and campuses across many higher institutions. First, know this: Allah sees you, and He is closer than their whispers. our next lineof action: Guard your environment_: Change roommates if you must.

The Prophet (SAW) said: “A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends. _Speak and seek help_: Report to your Amirah, your Coordinator, or school authorities. Silence feeds fitnah. Replace with righteous company_: This is why MSSN exists. Find one sister who reminds you of Jannah, and cling to her. Hold tight to Qur’an and du’a_: Especially _“Ya Muqallibal quloob, thabbit qalbee ‘alaa deenik”_ —

“O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.” She advised them.”What is the essence of the hijab we adorn, and we have boyfriend, we are seen dancing to music on street, dancing on social media to advertise our goods, chat with non-mahram online , intermingling withopposite sex in class and on our street, engage in sex without marriage, make up on hijabs, etc.

“These and other reasons are why a lot of you cannot defend and uphold the usage of hijab, because in the first place, you do not understand what you use, and when people rubbish it or talk you out of it, you obey them immediately. Who exactly are you deceiving? If you think you can continue todeceive us, you can’t deceive Allah SWT.

She appreciated Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and other jamb officials for their timelyintervention to the issue of hijab harassment during the just concluded jamb examination. This seminar is not to judge you but to remind you that you belong toAllah first. Make the intention that;”Ya Allah, from today, I belong to You, fully.”

In her welcome address, the Amirah, MSSN Agege Branch, Sister Zaynab Jamiu reminded the delegates that the theme, “To The One I Belong,” is a powerful reminder of our true identity and purpose as Muslim sisters.

“In a world filled with distractions, societal pressure, and confusion about values, we need to remember that first and foremost, we belong to Allah. Trends, peer pressure, or worldly standards do not define us. Rather, our worth is found in our submission to Allah, our Creator, who knows us best and loves us more than anyone else can.” She stated.

This seminar has been carefully planned to inspire us, strengthen our faith, and guide us as we navigate our journey as young Muslimah in secondaryschool and beyond.

In her remarks, Hajia Sekinah Temitope Lawal, who was the Mother of The Day urged the young ones to be wary of phone usage and being addicted to various apps online.

“As good as those phones are, we all need to be very careful so that we would not be distracted from worshipping Allah as at when due. As young Muslimah, let’s rededicate ourselves to the pristine teachings of Islam and continue to be good ambassadors of Islam.” Hajia Sekinah Lawal concluded.

Apart from the lectures, they had panel discussions from older ones who have been through universities to guide them and schools debate among other activities to drive home the theme of the event with various gift items for participants and winning schools.
