… MMPN, Others Congratulate Lawal On Her Appointment

The apex and official regulatory Islamic authority in Nigeria, the
Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, under the leadership of his eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, has appointed Hajia Sekinah Temitope Lawal as the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the council.

At the all-important General Assembly, which came up in Abuja on Thursday October 1, 2026, the council announced her appointment and other key stakeholders.
The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, Lagos State Chapter, has congratulated Hajia Sekinah Lawal on her appointment as the Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

MMPN Lagos described the appointment as a recognition of her professionalism, dedication and contributions to journalism and public communication.
Muslim leaders and representatives from across the country deliberated on issues concerning the Muslim Ummah and the nation.
In a congratulatory message, signed by its Chairman, Dr Kabir Alabi Garba, the association expressed confidence that Hajia Lawal would bring her wealth of experience, commitment to ethical journalism and passion for effective communication to bear on her new responsibility.
The chapter noted that her appointment presents an opportunity to strengthen public engagement and promote a better understanding of the Council’s activities, programmes and positions on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah.
“Hajia Sekinah Lawal, the MMPN Lagos State Treasurer and a former Chairperson of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has demonstrated leadership and commitment to the advancement of journalism and the development of women in the media profession. Her experience in media practice and professional leadership is expected to contribute meaningfully to the discharge of her new responsibilities within the NSCIA,” he said.
The MMPN Lagos State Chapter further noted that effective public relations remains crucial to the promotion of unity, mutual understanding and constructive engagement between the Council, the Muslim community and the wider Nigerian society. It expressed optimism that Hajia Lawal’s appointment would enhance the visibility of the NSCIA’s initiatives and strengthen its communication channels with the media and other stakeholders.
While wishing her success in her new assignment, MMPN Lagos State Chapter urged her to sustain the values of professionalism, integrity, inclusiveness and responsible communication in the discharge of her duties.
The chapter also prayed that Almighty Allah would grant her the wisdom, strength and guidance required to excel in the assignment and contribute to the growth of the NSCIA and the overall development of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.
Also, the Media Team of the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, and other groups and individuals congratulated the Council and the entire Nigerian Muslim Ummah on the successful conclusion of the NSCIA General Assembly.
In a statement signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka on Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Media Team particularly welcomes the new leadership structure approved by the Assembly, describing it as an important step towards strengthening the administration, coordination and service of the NSCIA to the Muslim Ummah and Nigeria.
The Assembly approved four Deputy Secretaries-General with specific responsibilities: Professor Salisu Shehu for International Affairs; Professor Mahfouz A. Adedimeji for National Affairs; Mallam Abeni Mohammed (SAN) for Corporate Matters; and Dr Bala Muhammad for Administration.
It also approved Prof. Dr Umar Jibrilu Gwandu as Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Prof. Fatimah Abdulkareem as the Family Affairs Officer while approving the activation of zonal and state Councils under the Council’s Constitution.
The NSCIA is headed by the Sultan of Sokoto as President-General, with other principal officers including the Deputy President-General (North), His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Umar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi, CFR, the Shehu of Borno; Deputy President-General (South), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, FCA; and Secretary-General, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede.
The Sultan’s Media Team urged the newly appointed officers to approach their responsibilities with humility, dedication, wisdom and a strong sense of service, while working collectively to advance the unity and interests of the Muslim Ummah.
The Team also commended the spirit of unity demonstrated at the Assembly and calls on all members and affiliates of the NSCIA to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, dialogue and constructive engagement for the progress of Nigeria.
The Media Team congratulated the entire NSCIA family and Nigerian Muslims, wishing the new officers success in their respective responsibilities.
