Senator Yayi Bags YABATECH’s Prestigious Fellowship Award

… Promises Continuous Support for Quality Education

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi

The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, has conferred its distinguished Fellowship Award (FYCT) on Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, representing Ogun West Senatorial District, during the institution’s 37th Convocation Ceremony held in Lagos recently.

This honour marks yet another academic recognition for the distinguished Senator, who was previously honoured at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, for his contributions to educational development.

Presenting the award to the Senator’s representative, Hon. Bolaji Oyeleye, the Rector of YABATECH, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, described Senator Adeola as a steadfast supporter of education and national growth. He noted that the Senator’s unwavering commitment to upgrading YABATECH into a full-fledged university has been a major inspiration to the institution.

Though unavoidably absent at the ceremony, Senator Adeola expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, reiterating his belief in quality education as the bedrock of national progress.

He recalled his previous legislative efforts in the 8th and 9th Senate to secure university status for YABATECH, noting that both attempts gained significant traction before the legislative sessions ended.

The Senator, who chairs the 10th Senate Committee on Appropriations, also commended Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele for reintroducing the bill, which has now been passed by the National Assembly and assented to—finally paving the way for YABATECH’s long-awaited transition to a University of Technology.

I deeply appreciate this honour from the renowned YABATECH. It strengthens my resolve to continue supporting educational advancement through school construction, scholarships, and bursaries, as I have always done,” he said.

Senator Adeola assured the institution of his continued legislative backing as it begins the process of transforming into a full-fledged university. The award presentation was witnessed by the senator’s wife, Chief (Mrs.) Temitope Adeola, alongside associates, supporters, and well-wishers.
