Members of #Prayer & Support for The Nigerian Armed Forces & Other Security Agencies have joyfully congratulated AIG Olatunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Convener of the association, Ambassador Mary Abayomi Fatile, made this known in a press statement issued in Lagos on February 26, 2026.

Ambassador Abayomi Fatile described the well-deserved appointment as a testament to IGP Disu’s outstanding professionalism, disciplined leadership, humility, courage, and unwavering dedication to national service.

She noted that the association particularly recognises his strong relationship with citizens, which has earned him widespread public trust.

“This was powerfully evident during the EndSARS protests when a Rapid Response Squad (RRS) vehicle was destroyed. The reaction of both the public and the media at that moment reflected the deep confidence Nigerians have in him, knowing that he has always been prompt, reliable, and ready to assist whenever called upon,” she said.

The Convener stated that IGP Disu’s career reflects a rare blend of operational excellence and strategic leadership.

As Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, he championed intelligence-led and proactive policing initiatives that strengthened public safety and improved rapid response effectiveness.

His tenure as Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), she added, demonstrated his capacity to lead complex and sensitive operations with precision and professionalism.

In his service as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and later in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, IGP Disu showcased strong administrative competence, exceptional crisis management skills, and steadfast commitment to maintaining law and order in challenging environments.

Ambassador Abayomi Fatile further highlighted his role as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, from where he was elevated to the pinnacle of his career. In that capacity, he reinforced investigative standards, strengthened institutional discipline, and promoted professionalism within the Force.

The association acknowledged the enormous responsibility that accompanies his new role, particularly in today’s complex and evolving security landscape.

“Nigerians are optimistic that with him at the helm of the Nigeria Police Force, there will be a positive shift in public perception of the Police, correcting longstanding misconceptions and fostering renewed confidence,” she stated.

She expressed confidence that IGP Disu’s leadership will help bridge the gap between the Police and citizens, promoting greater trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.

The association further expressed belief that the new Inspector-General will strengthen intelligence-led policing, deepen inter-agency collaboration, enhance officers’ welfare and discipline, integrate modern technology into crime prevention and investigation, and uphold the rule of law while safeguarding the rights of all citizens.

Ambassador Abayomi Fatile concluded by pledging the association’s full support for the Acting Inspector-General throughout his tenure, which they envision will be marked by transformative reforms and measurable progress in repositioning the Nigeria Police Force as a more accountable, efficient, and citizen-focused institution.

With his discipline, operational acumen, and reform-driven approach, IGP Disu inspires hope for renewed public trust and strengthened national security,” she affirmed.
