Staff and students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Ilorin, will henceforth, enjoy seamless intra-campus communication as digital solutions provider, Globacom, has launched Gloshare and Mobile Community telephony plan for the institution.
President of the university’s Student Union Government, Mallam AbdulAfeez Babatunde Kewulere, conveyed his gratitude to Globacom for selecting KWASU as the pilot for both services for students under his leadership.
Said he, “This initiative underscores Globacom’s commitment to empowering students with cutting-edge digital solutions”, and he charged the students to actively explore these services, which represent the evolving standard in connectivity and collaboration.
According to him, the theme for the leadership and empowerment summit was carefully chosen to reflect the reality of impact of information technology age, artificial intelligence and new knowledge evolving nowadays.
“And this is calling for more of this partnership and collaboration from other corporate organisations in all our higher institutions of learning so as to assist Nigerians students to navigate their learning years with ease.” He appealed to concerned stakeholders.
“The theme for the leadership summit was carefully chosen considering the reality of the Artificial Intelligence and information technology age that we are.” AbdulAfeez concluded.

“By leveraging these tools, you’ll not only enhance your academic experience but also stay ahead in an increasingly digital world. I urge you to utilise this opportunity maximally for everything positive and impactful.” He added.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, who attended the leadership training organised by the SUG posited that the occasion was both historic and futuristic, not only because of its theme, “Redefining Leadership in the age of AI : Students as Innnovators , Volunteers and Changemakers” but also because of the launch of two transformative initiatives: Gloshare and CUG.
He expressed excitement that both products will strengthen communication, connectivity and collaboration among students, saying, “These initiatives are homegrown, tailored to needs, and emblematic of the innovative spirit that resides within our student body”.

The Enterprise Southwest Regional Head of Globacom, Mr Adewale Adiatu, explained at the launch of the two products at the Malete campus of the university that this development is in line with Globacom’s commitment to revolutionising how students connect, share and collaborate both academically and socially.
The telecommunications giant, through its Enterprise Unit, launched Gloshare and Mobile Community plan for KWASU which is the first of any tertiary institution to enjoy such blended learning system in Nigeria.
According to Mr. Adiatu, Gloshare will allow the students to visit the school portal and download educational materials free without using their data, while the mobile community plan will make it possible to have everyone in KWASU community on the same platform, where students and staff that subscribe to the service can interact freely.
Similarly, Mr Adeniyi Odejobi, the Enterprise National Vertical Head, Glo Enterprise Sales, disclosed that many sites had been erected on the campus, while more sites were at various stages of completion to ensure seamless performance of the Gloshare and community lines.
