IHumanity First Nigeria, HFN, in collaboration with Humanity First Germany and Canada, has provided over 29,000 meals to support Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) living in El-Miskin Camp, Jere Local Government Area, Maiduguri Metropolis, Borno State, North-East Nigeria.

Team Lead, Disaster Relief and Program of HFN, it was stated that the program was designed to assist Muslim faithfuls observing their fasts during the month of Ramadan under challenging circumstances.
The Camp Chairman, Muhammad Hashim, expressed appreciation for Humanity First Nigeria’s efforts, noting that the camp houses over 7,000 individuals from more than 1,500 families, divided across 21 districts.
One of the camp residents, Bukar Bulama, shared that he fled Mungonu LGA over eight years ago due to insurgency. Despite his desire to return home and resume farming, the area remains insecure. He noted that life in the camp became even more difficult last year when it was hit by devastating floods.
“I am grateful to Humanity First for providing Iftar meals during Ramadan. It has been a great relief to us. However, we still face challenges, especially with accessing clean water,” Bukar appealed.
His sentiments were echoed by other camp residents who also appreciated the continued support of Humanity First.
Speaking on behalf of Humanity First Nigeria, Mr. Abdul-Qadir, the Team Lead Disaster Relief and program, stated that the provision of food to victims of floods and terrorism in El-Miskin Camp aligns with the organization’s culture of prioritizing human welfare, regardless of ethnic or religious background.
He further explained that the current meal distribution is the second phase of efforts to support the victims in Maiduguri, with the first phase conducted in September 2024, immediately after the flood disaster.
“Humanity First has been supporting victims of disasters all over the world, and this year we are proudly celebrating 30 years of serving mankind,” Mr. AbdulQadir added.
Through consistent efforts like these, Humanity First continues to bring hope and relief to communities torn apart by conflict and natural disasters.
