
The Abeokuta Girls Grammar School (AGGS) in Onikolobo, Abeokuta, played host to a momentous occasion on August 1, 2025, as the school’s valedictory ceremony took place with the theme “Building Legacy, Inspiring the Future.” The event was graced by the Global President of the Old Girls’ Association (AGGSOGA), Mrs. Olusolape Ajibola, who delivered a keynote address that resonated deeply with the audience.
In her address, Mrs. Ajibola emphasized the importance of the values instilled in the students of AGGS, such as discipline, resilience, service, and integrity, which have shaped many of its alumnae into women of impact in their communities and beyond. She highlighted the role of the Old Girls’ Association in bridging the past with the future, stressing the need for continued commitment to mentorship, infrastructure support, and inspiring the next generation of girls.

The AGGSOGA President also had a special message for the graduating students, encouraging them to hold their heads high, stay proud of their values, and remember that they come from a lineage of strong women. She shared an article on the importance of keeping virginity till marriage, emphasizing that it commands respect, builds trust, and brings peace and security in marriage.
Mrs. Ajibola expressed her deepest gratitude to the principal, teachers, and non-academic staff for their tireless commitment to shaping the futures of the students. She challenged the Old Girls’ Association to continue building, supporting, and believing in the mission of the school, and committed to working together to empower the next generation of girls.

The event was a celebration of the school’s legacy and a call to action for the Old Girls’ Association to continue inspiring and supporting the future generations of girls. As the AGGSOGA Global President aptly put it, “Let us rise together, let us give together, and above all, let us continue to walk worthy of the school that gave us all our start.”
Reacting to Mrs. Ajibola’s speech, the school’s principal, Mrs M.O. Ozoje said the Ajibola-led AGGSOGA’s initiative was splendid and had changed the narrative and planning of the 2025 Valedictory/Graduation ceremony.
